About Riverside FC

More Than a Football Club

Riverside Football Club, based at the prestigious Riverside Sports Grounds, in Durban North, South Africa, was established in 1975 as the "Glenwood High School Old Boys Association." Over the decades, the club has evolved and grown, transforming into Riverside Football Club and rebranding in 2023 to reflect its modern identity while honoring its rich history.

At Riverside FC, we believe in more than just football. We focus on player development, family support, and building a strong football culture based on respect, discipline, and belonging. Our club is a place where players grow, friendships are formed, and lifelong memories are created.

Our Purpose

Our mission is to provide a safe, structured, and positive environment where players can learn football, develop confidence, and be part of a team.

We welcome players of all abilities, from beginners taking their first steps in football to those aspiring to compete at higher levels.

A Clear Football Pathway

Riverside FC offers a clear football pathway from U6 through to Seniors and Over 35s, ensuring players can progress within the same club. Our development model focuses on:

  • Enjoyment and confidence at younger ages
  • Strong technical foundations
  • Gradual introduction to competitive football
  • Clear progression into senior football

Our goal is to enable a player to join at U6 and play through to senior football within the same club.

Building Senior Football

Riverside FC is committed to building a long-term vision for senior football and creating opportunities beyond junior level. In 2025, we took a significant step forward with qualification for the Zonal League, marking our entry into South Africa's structured senior football pyramid, including SAFA Regional and National divisions.

We are dedicated to developing players, coaches, and teams capable of competing beyond grassroots football while maintaining our community values.

Community at the Core

At Riverside FC, community is at the core of everything we do. Our club is built on strong relationships between players, parents, coaches, and volunteers. We believe in creating a welcoming space where families are included and community comes first, whether on the sidelines, at training, or during match days.
