A difficult afternoon away from home as Riverside suffered their first defeat of the season, but the spirit and fight of the side remained evident throughout.

The match began in extremely hot and demanding conditions, and despite the early kickoff the River Tigers started strongly, creating the better opportunities in a tight first half. Riverside looked the more threatening side but could not find the breakthrough before the break.

Early in the second half, however, MUT took advantage of a defensive error in the 48th minute to take the lead.

Just minutes later MUT threatened again down the left wing, but Wah produced a brilliant point-blank save in the 51st minute to keep Riverside firmly in the contest.

Despite the save, MUT managed to break through again around the 62nd minute, scoring a second goal to extend the lead to 2–0.

Riverside pushed hard to respond and were unfortunate not to receive a clear penalty after a foul on captain Devin Reed, which was waved away by the referee despite strong appeals.

The pressure finally paid off in the 90th minute when Riverside won a penalty. Serge stepped up confidently and converted, bringing the score back to 2–1 and setting up a tense finish.

Unfortunately the referee blew the final whistle shortly after, despite the expectation of additional injury time, bringing a frustrating end to the match.

It was a tough day at the office, played in demanding conditions and marked by some difficult officiating decisions. Nevertheless, the boys fought until the final whistle.
