To end off, it was an incredible end to the season to win 4-0 in front of a good crowd out at The River. It was amazing, especially under the lights. It is always a special, special evening at Riverside.
Special congratulations once again to the first team for clinching the league in clinical fashion. Attention now turns to the cross-league playoffs against the other zonal teams, with the ambition of being crowned the grand champions of the zonal league.
The players will now enjoy a well-earned two-week rest before returning to training to prepare for the playoffs and the season ahead.
A special word of mention goes out to Khayo, who, despite coming on in the second half to the Riverside faithful, made an immediate impact. Khayo, the longstanding captain of the club, deserved all the plaudits this evening, as well as the rapturous round of applause and ovation he received when he left the field and for his contribution in securing a goal and an assist.
Credit also to Serge for his brace, and to Kyle for calmly slotting the fourth goal, while the back four produced a solid defensive display to secure the clean sheet.
A great way to finish off the regular league season.
