Riverside FC are officially MRL Zonal League Champions, securing the title with four games to spare and sealing promotion to the Hollywoodbets Regional Super League.

After lifting the GDLFA Premier League title in September last year, Riverside have now followed it up by conquering the MRL Zonal League, completing an extraordinary rise through the leagues.

FIRST HALF – PRESSURE REWARDED

Played in extremely windy conditions, the game began tightly with Riverside forced to manage the elements. Despite playing against the wind, Riverside created the better chances.

Aphiwe had three early opportunities:

•⁠  ⁠One was pushed wide

Persistence paid off.

A pass from Vah found Amphiwe who finished confidently to give Riverside the lead.

Bayanda broke down the wing and found Nkosi, who composed himself inside the box and squared the ball for George to tap home.
